Remy Retains William H. “Billy” Murphy Jr.
Baltimore, Maryland – Remy “Remy Ma” Smith who was convicted of assault, weapons possession, and attempted coercion has retained the legal services of noted trial attorney William “Billy” Murphy Jr. Murphy, a former State Circuit Court Judge based in Baltimore, is one of America’s most successful and prominent trial lawyers. Murphy gained national recognition in 1998, by gaining the acquittal of fight promoter Don King on federal charges of defrauding Lloyd’s of London in New York City. Murphy, a senior partner in the Murphy Firm based in Baltimore, has represented rappers DMX, Missy Elliott, Red Man, and Mary J. Blige. “We are pleased to handle Remy Ma’s appeal. We are confident that when we present all of the facts, the public for the first time will get a true picture of what actually happened; and Remy will be vindicated,” said Mr. Murphy. He will be assisted on the appeal by his partner, Kenneth Ravenell and New York attorney Richard Levitt. “With the addition of Mr. Murphy, Ravenell and Levitt, I now believe I have assembled a team that will have the might and expertise to tell my side of the story,” said Ms. Smith. “I am confident that after hearing everything my side will prevail. Mr. Murphy comes highly recommended and I am pleased that he has agreed to lead my defense team.” Most recently, Murphy was successful in reversing a 1.6 million dollar verdict against rapper DMX, and helping to secure a $35 million dollar civil judgement for Former Baltimore Ravens All-Pro Defensive End Michael McCrary.
